Playing for Real

If you are a member of a community poker club then try to play against the best club players as often as you can.  You can learn a lot of valuable lessons and pick up some great tips if you keep your eyes and ears open as you play.  It can be disheartening to keep losing to better players but if you just play those you know you can already beat you will have no incentive to improve your game.

When you are playing in local poker nights and tournaments be realistic about your own skill level.  If you are playing for real money then you need to be very careful.  If you are new to the game it can be too easy to lose your stack before you have any chance of winning.  Make sure you have practiced as much as possible before you sit down to play and have a full understanding of the game and its rules.
